Sonya is a 7th generation native of Northern Greene County. She grew up on the family farm as well as in the family business and knows firsthand the importance of a strong work ethic. She has over 20 years of experience in small business and management. Sonya and her husband, Jim Anderson own and operate Show Me Horses.Com, a successful small business in the horse industry providing farrier service for more than 10 years. She has served as a corporate officer of Rose’s Down Home Cleaning, Inc. and has managed their payroll and accounting departments for the past 15 years. Prior to that, Sonya served as General Manager for Ben Steele Properties and served as Recycling Coordinator and Accounts Payable Coordinator for Waste Management of Southwest Missouri.
Sonya volunteers in the community, actively serves on several boards and associations and serves as Treasurer for the Missouri Equine Council.

Family and community are important to Sonya. She is a long time member of Glidewell Baptist Church. Sonya and Jim, her husband of 20 years, reside on their farm North of Springfield with their two teenage sons.
As a State Representative, Sonya plans to utilize her experience in agriculture and small business to help strengthen Missouri’s economy. She understands firsthand the struggles faced by small businesses when it comes to government intrusion, taxes and regulations.
The 7thth District Missouri Republican Assembly today offered their exclusive endorsement of Sonya Anderson in the race for State Representative for the 131st District. The MRA is made up of conservative Republicans working within the Party to restore conservative values to the Party and the nation. Campaign Efforts Underway
With the Missouri Supreme Court's ruling on the new State House Districts map, the race for the 131st District is beginning to take shape in earnest. The nice, Spring weather also affords more opportunities for us to get out and visit with voters in the District. We are honored to have received a number of additional endorsements over the past month, and are excited to share our vision with voters in the District. If you would like to help the campaign, we'd love to have you. We are looking for help in the following key areas:

Campaign Website Launched
In an effort to better connect with voters and get our message out, we have officially launched our campaign website, sonyaanderson.org. The website contains information about Sonya's her views on issues facing the 131 District in Greene County, Mo. Redistricting Challenged in Missouri Courts
Congressional and state legislative districts are redrawn every ten years based on information from the most recent census. The new redistricting maps were released 11/30/2011. Both Congressional and Senate maps were recently challenged in court and the Senate maps were ruled unconstitutional. The House maps are now being challenged in court. A decision must be made as to whether or not the House maps are unconstitutional by the upcoming filing date of February 28, 2012. If a decision hasn't been made, the maps may revert back to the old districts until the 2014 election. Check out the link under the Election Info section to the left for more information.

Campaign Organization Underway
The new year is off to a busy start as we begin preparations for the campaign for State Representative of the 131st District. Currently a website is underway and should be completed soon where we can direct people who are interested in learning more about Sonya's platform and/or want to help. It will also have a place where they can request more information and/or make a donation towards her campaign. ( Unfortunately there is a lot of expense to this effort.) We will keep you posted here when that is ready. We are also asking for volunteers to canvass the district (will have flyers for distribution) and also to speak on her behalf at various clubs or functions.

Pro Life: Life is sacred and Sonya firmly believes life begins at conception. As your State Representative, Sonya is committed to protecting the rights of the unborn and will oppose any legislation that provides tax dollars for abortions.
Property Rights
Government is instituted to protect property of every sort; as well that which lies in the various rights of individuals, as that which the term particularly expresses. This being the end of government, that alone is a just government, which impartially secures to every man, whatever is his own. ~James Madison
The purpose of our government is to protect our rights, not take them away. Property rights and liberty go hand in hand. Our Founding Fathers understood that property rights are the cornerstone of a free society and therefore these rights must be protected.
Due to increasing government regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, private property rights are becoming more and more strained. To protect property owners, our Founders gave us the Fifth Amendment, which includes the “Taking Clause.” This clause states that private property shall not be taken for a public use, without just compensation.
We must hold our government accountable and strengthen our property rights to make sure property owners are justly compensated when eminent domain authority is implemented constitutionally.

The Founders created the Constitution and the Bill of Rights to protect the liberties of individuals. They recognized that without a blue print that limited governmental power, the rights of the people could be threatened and violated. The Bill of Rights represents the fundamental freedoms that are at the heart of our society and that includes the right to bear arms.

Sonya is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and will uphold the rights of eligible citizens to defend and protect themselves.
Agriculture

Agriculture is Missouri’s number one industry. Our state has the second highest number of farms in the nation. According to the 2007 Agriculture Census, livestock production accounted for 53% of our state’s agricultural receipts.
Sonya understands the importance of this industry and feels that less government intrusion will allow the farmer and rancher to continue their livelihood, which in turn helps our economy and sustains our nation.

The competitive or free market system, which allows for private enterprise and competitive capitalism, is essential in maintaining the American way of life. In the free market system, anyone—regardless of age, ethnicity or education—is able to achieve financial success. Competition within the market helps to generate lower prices to the public and helps create new jobs. These principles, working together, help to fuel the economy as a whole.
